LINE app for Android and iPhone is one of popular messenger apps let users messaging or make calls with free to each others. Unfortunately, when you want to upgrade or change mobile phone, you need to log in again and all your previous LINE chat will delete automatically, it is quite troublesome.

Two Android devices must have ROOT permissions to modify LINE relevant backup files, rooting may cause hardware damage and may even lose the warranty, prior to use at your own risk.
LINE Chat Backup And Transfer
LINE messenger use Android ID to determine LINE app is installed on a same phone or not, so we can use this trick that new phone changed with the same ID as an old phone to cheat LINE verification.
Backup Android ID
Install free Titanium Backup from Google Play Store. We use this app to check Android ID. Tap on “Menu” locate at the top right corner, then scroll down till you see “Manage android ID” option. Note down Android ID.
Backup LINE Settings On Old Phone
First force close LINE app for Android to stop it running at the background. Tap on “Backup/Restore” tab starting back up LINE app and the settings.
Go back to “Backup/Restore” dialog box, tap on the screen and slide to the left side. You will see “Special features” option, now tap on “Send latest backup”.
Select “App+Data (easy import)” in the dialog box. LINE app and the settings will integrat into one file, easy for us import to new Android devices.
Next send this backup file to your computer or use Bluetooth transfer this file to new android phone. This backup file is in “.TiBkp” format.
Amend Android ID On New Phone
In the previous step, we have written down the old phone’s Android ID, the next step is to change the new phone’s Android ID with the same old phone, do not forget to write down the new phone original ID before any modification.
Install Root Explorer and SQLite Editor from Google Play Store. Launching Root Explorer app and locate path “/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases”, tap on “settings.db”.
SQLite Editor will open this file. Go to “secure” and find “android_id”.
Tap on “android_id” name > pencil icon start to edit the value. Key in old phone’s android ID and save it, then reboot the phone.
Restore LINE Settings On New Phone
Install Titanium backup app on a new phone. Tap on “Menu” > “Import Backup (.TiBkp)”. Locate your old phone LINE backup file import to new phone.
Select “App+Data” to restore the LINE settings, you may request download LINE app if necessary.
Launch LINE messenger, all your previous LINE settings, including LINE chat already backup and transfer to new phone successfully. Now you are using same LINE ID on two Android devices, doesn’t need log in and log out frequently.
