Google Chrome is my favorite web browser, i can set up different bookmarks, shortcuts, browsing history and extension etc with different chrome account setting. I still not used to Internet Explorer (IE) as main web browser on Windows 8 then need to change Windows 8 default browser to Google Chrome that suit for my needed.
So far Google released Google chrome dev channel version that can supports Windows 8 metro UI only (Firefox metro UI version coming soon). Visit Chrome release channels page and download Dev channels for Windows version.
Change Windows 8 Default Web Browser
1.Select Google chrome as default browser on Windows 8.
There are two types of Internet Explorer version installed on Windows 8 – first is for Windows 8 metro user interface and second is for desktop versions. Google chrome become default web browser on Windows 8 metro UI and IE metro UI icon then change to IE desktop icon.
2.Google chrome appear as full screen mode under metro UI to enhance touch mode enable interface.
3.Google chrome and Windows 8 metro integration is quite good, as move mouse pointer to lower right corner desktop then a 「Charms menu」 appeared, click 「Setting 」 icon.
4.Google chrome setting page appeared as you click 「Settings」 option, are you felt it’s convenient ?
5.Moreover Chrome support Windows 8 snap view enables you to snap Metro applications with classic desktop interface, that can viewing two pop up screen at the same time.
How to change back default browser to IE ? It’s easy just tab IE icon and it’s will pop up a windows message asking set default browser, click it IE will set and change back to Windows 8 default browser.
You can also access to 「Default Program 」 > 「Set Default Program 」, then find internet Explorer and choose 「Set this program as default 」, that all.
